Do I need any qualifications?
Our extensive training programme and years of experience will help you operate the business. However, you need:
- To bring the drive, passion, determination, and persistence.
- Be able to manage all stakeholders within the business is a critical attribute we are looking for.
- To complete the appropriate food standards qualifications, provide a police check and have a current driver’s license.
- Be able to work and own a business in Australia.
- Hold either Permanent Australian Residency or be an Australian Citizen.
I have never owned my own business before, and I don’t know how to run a business. Is this a problem?
No.
Having a strong passion and commitment to business is what we are looking for and previous business or food association is a great advantage but not essential.
Most Franchisees start with little or no prior small business experience. With our Barnacle Bill training and internal operating systems, we will train you in all aspects of the business and offer ongoing training and support in order to maintain a smooth running business.
Am I required to work in the business?
That would usually be the case and our experience is that the most profitable and well-run stores are owner operated. We do have an expectation that our Franchisees are hands on working on and in their business.
What are the typical/required hours of operation and where do I operate from?
Our trading hours are 11:00am – 9:00pm, 7 days a week. Your business will operate only from a particular site (limited to premises only)
What is the initial franchise fee and training fee?
The Franchisee pays an up-front, initial franchise fee. The Fee is $38,500.00 including GST. The training fee is $11,000.00 including GST.
What are the continuing fees?
- Franchise Service Fee 7% of weekly gross turnover.
- Advertising Levy 3% of weekly gross turnover.
What is the investment range for a Barnacle Bill Franchise?
- Costs in connection with the lease $5,000.00 - $30,000.00 plus GST.
- Rent and Outgoings: Site Dependent.
- Fit Out, Shop Front, Leasehold improvements, Equipment, Signs ranging from $260,000 - $500,000.00 (estimated) plus GST.
- Inventory $20,000.00-$50,000.00 estimated.
- Business licenses, insurance and other prepaid expenses, bank guarantee, working capital, legal costs, are estimated between $50,00.00 to $100,000.00.

How long is the Franchise Agreement?
The Franchise Agreement is five years, with a further two x five-year renewal options.
Where is the training and how long?
Franchise training is conducted in Adelaide for 5 days, supported by 2 days onsite training and 5 days onsite after the doors open. Travel and accommodation is your responsibility.

- We then give you some time to review the franchise and speak to your necessary advisors.
- If both parties agree to progress with the application, we will ask you for a fully-refundable pre-payment deposit for documentation preparation.
- Congratulations on joining the team.
- We will then organise a time with you to attend the training course which is held in various locations.
- Officially welcome you as a Barnacle Bill franchisee!
